Plenty of Attitude

I guess Oliver wouldn't be ours if he didn't have a lot of attitude.

How dare I look at him while he was enjoying his french fries.

Spring cleaning is taking place in el casa de evil corgis. We are cleaning out our closets and putting away the items we purchased for our move. I don't know when we will be able to move, but its just better if we put it all away rather than keep it out and stare at it day and night. We are also planning to have some visitors for labor day weekend to celebrate Mia's birthday. We still need to make preparations but I'm excited to have her in the ghetto with us. :-)

On more somber news, poor Auntie A got robbed on Saturday. Luckily she and Uncle B are okay but it just annoys me that people can suck so much. Uncle B was away on business and Auntie A was at work on a Saturday. Some jackass came over to their house and broke in and stole some items in her living room. She had to come home to find out she'd been robbed. Luckily she has a great support system there to help her take care of everything. But it just sucks that they were singled out in that crime.

Onto Oliver news. He's been more and more of a punk lately. He's having a hard time sleeping well at night so he wakes up and starts screaming. He knows that if he just cries, we'll let him be, but the screaming (we have neighbors downstairs who can hear EVERYTHING) makes us go get him quicker. He's also refusing to eat anything I make. Which makes me really sad, but hey, what can I do? Putting him down at night is pretty rough. He cries and cries when we put him down and he makes it a HUGE ordeal. It will take him 10 minutes to cry himself to sleep, and I agonize in the living room. This is probably a good reason why he's still in the crib and not a toddler bed.

His diminishing appetite is killing me, because we plan our meals out on a weekly basis and I just feel its better than the crap he'd rather eat. So he either eats my food sparingly or he eats nothing, which just isn't acceptable for me. So we've purchased frozen chicken breast strips from Tj's as well as the soy nuggets that we'll warm up in the toaster oven for him when he refuses dinner. I know its bad for me to create a second meal for him, but we suffer when he doesn't eat because he wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. But he REFUSES to eat. What sucks is that this is stuff he ate before, so its nothing new that I'm making and forcing him to eat. I know its a phase and it too shall pass, but it just stinks right now.

I keep telling myself to start potty training him. When I smell him after he's pooped I ask him, "Oliver you need to tell mommy if poop, Okay?" to which he always responds with a resounding "OK." Unfortunately this leads to NOTHING. He doesn't care if he sits in his own poop. I will ask him if he poo'd after he reeks of it and he will always say "No" with that little lilt he does when he says "no." I figure at some point he won't want to sit in his own poo. Perhaps at his college graduation?

Take a big whiff

This morning as we were slowly waking up, we heard some boisterous noises coming from a certain someone's bedroom. Well since I'm using my pregnancy as an excuse for everything these days, I convinced Crazy to go grab the little stinker and bring him into bed with us. Well Crazy brought him into bed with us and as he laid him down, I noticed something weird happening. There next to Oliver's buttcrack was Crazy's nose. Here's how the conversation went.

Oliver's mama : Um...what did I just see you do?
Crazy: I was seeing if his diaper needed changing....
Oliver's mama: Did your nose need to be on his crack?
Craz: My nose is stuffy....

Um...sure buddy.

Photos galore

Here's what we had for dinner. Its a green couscous salad with a greek yogurt dressing. The couscous has ground up arugula & green onion, chopped cucumbers, and sauteed zucchini. I sprinkled a bit of feta on top. The couscous is also flavored with lemon rind and lemon juice. Very tasty, and will be even better tomorrow for lunch. The greek yogurt sauce has dill, lemon juice and rind, and some red onions. Tasty.

Here's Oliver having his dinner tonight. He had left over fish cakes that Crazy made yesterday. The ingredients are fish paste, eggs, fish sauce, green onions and you fry it up into a little fritter.

Here's Oliver's impression of Uncle P.

Here's little no name's dresser. It is enormous. But tall and small enough to fit into our room. We are squeezed into such a small space, until we find a home and move. We won't be purchasing much for no name.

Who doesn't love Toddlerhood?

Well, I am thankful that I chose the type of curtain treatments I did for our living and dining room. Thankfully, I didn't put up the gorgeous curtain treatments we purchased for the townhouse, those are still in their original wrappers tucked away in the closets. Well Friday while we were people watching, Oliver grabbed a hold of the curtains and then fell to the side, pulling the entire curtain down with him and luckily he was so surprised at his landing, he forgot to cry. I was thankful that he didn't pull the curtain rod down with him, because then he may have gotten hurt and we would have had to go pick up a new curtain rod. GRRRRRR.

So as everyone knows we have to bring food to bribe Oliver to come with us when we go pick him up at daycare. Well on Friday we brought grapes. I dangled the bag in front of him and he quickly followed. As he was shoving grapes in his mouth, a child saw the open bag and went for his very own helping. The second Oliver saw him eating his grapes, he thew the open bag of grapes on the floor and belted out a terrible series of screams. The director heard the commotion and ran over and grabbed the kid and told him he needed to spit up the grapes then told him he couldn't steal food and made him apologize to Oliver, who was still crying. Crazy busied himself picking up fallen grapes and I scurried Oliver to the door. Well at that point Oliver stood near the door and then stared at two bags of grapes, one that Crazy had and one that I had. The second I saw Oliver staring at Crazy's bag I started putting away the bag I had and that only seemed to upset Oliver who then batted at my bag and again, grapes everywhere and Oliver started crying again. Ugh. I then picked up the fallen grapes and said "Bye" to Oliver before I just decided to walk away and luckily Crazy took my queue and left with me. Oliver saw that both of us were gone so quickly ran after us. The staff all cracked up and started laughing. They all know what a crazy food hound Oliver is.

Saturday was a blur, Oliver woke us up at 6 am and Crazy brought him to bed with us. He was way too cute so I started to interact with him and then Oliver got waaaaay too excited with the interaction that he began interact with Crazy who then decided to give up sleeping. After Oliver's midday nap, we went to pick up a lingerie chest for little no name. Crazy stayed up until 3 am to put it together, he couldn't resist staring at the box and the setup took him 3 hours to put together.

Sunday we decided to utilize the trike we purchased months ago for Oliver's birthday. We purchased the little parental handle bar to help steer and push the bike with little effort. Oliver woke up at 7:30 am and after having his breakfast he then demanded Crazy do something with him. Crazy took him into the hallway with the trike and allowed Oliver to ride up and down the hallway. Then he decided that he and Oliver would take a walk around the neighborhood with Oliver's trike. I quickly woke up (Still a bit nauseous and very tired) and came along for the ride. The second both Crazy and I went to get dressed, Oliver got very upset, thinking that we weren't going on a walk. Crazy had to slowly explain to him that we were just getting dressed. We quickly left the apartment and grabbed Kylee for a nice walk around the neighborhood. Oliver practiced riding his trike and Kylee was nice and quiet throughout the entire walk (shocking I know). We came home and went off to brunch where Oliver made us eat really really fast. I HATE when he does this, it was only 10:30. When we got back Oliver had an apple and soon fell asleep. We woke him up at 4:30 (yes, shocking this kid takes such long naps) he demanded to go for another walk. So off we went.

In the meantime Crazy and I made spaghetti and french onion soup. I also gave both boys haircuts and everyone got cleaned up afterwards. The weekend went by in such a flash, and its weird but we got a lot accomplished. I'll shoot some photos tomorrow and post them. Sorry, I just didn't have time to take any photos today.

Crazy loves me

Look at what he got me?

Firrrreeeee Fruck

Was the theme tonight as we sat down to dinner. We had my version of clam chowder, which I cooked on Sunday night. We accompanied our soup with dark Russian rye bread and for dessert we gave Oliver some pieces of a dark chocolate bar with lavender and bits of dried blueberry.

As we sat in our dining room eating dinner, we heard fire sirens in the background. Oliver began saying "FIRE FRUCK" over and over again. I understood immediately, and said, "Yes, good job", while Crazy looked at me with that glazed look. When I told him that Oliver was saying fire truck, it took him a minute to comprehend it. I just love how I'm the baby translator. Oh the joys of living in the ghetto and 5 blocks away from a fire house.

Sorry, tonight just isn't much of any type of blog post. I'm exhausted. We're all exhausted, and by "we" I mean Crazy and I. Last night I was awoken out of a deep slumber to Crazy having crazy coughing spasms, while I feel really bad for him (he's going through another nasal infection), part of me was really agitated he couldn't take it outside. Anyhow, in a sleep haze, I moved myself to the living room couch, however I just couldn't get back to sleep. In a stroke of ungenius, I turned on the TV and slumbered down for a midnight infomercial and before I knew it, it was 4 am. I returned back to bed and attempted to fall asleep when some jerk's faulty POS suv started to go haywire and honked for an hour. In my frustration, I yelled out into the night "SHUT THE FRENCH UP", to no avail, because the idiot owners could have cared less that they parked in a red zone and were keeping the entire neighborhood up. Crazy called the ghetto police, who told him his call was "priority", but if you ask me, "priority" meant, shut up and stop calling us. So the idiot owners finally rolled out of their hole at 5 am and drove off with their POS, and that's when I was finally able to go to sleep. I feel punch drunk.

Pouty pouty

Here's a photo of Oliver after he climbed up onto my lap and dug his little sharp knees into my lap. I asked him to get off me because he was hurting me and this was the looks he gave me.

Balllooooooooon!

Crazy's office had a celebration for one of their super computers and there was a ton of balloons that were still left in the office after the celebration, so Crazy decided to bring some home for Oliver's enjoyment. I kept trying to put the flash on the camera when we came home, but trying to get the flash to work was driving me insane, since despite everything I was doing, the flash REFUSED to come on. I hope you can at least see how thrilled the balloons made the kid.

Family trip

So today we went to Masse's after Oliver's afternoon nap. Here he is shoving cake in his big gaping maw. Crazy ordered a apricot and pine nut tart, while I had the blueberry tart, and we ordered a raspberry cake for Oliver. He ate the inside, but refused the outside. I forgot, those nice large cups of capuccino's are the best this side of the Mississippi. You will see four cookies, two of them are apricot sandies, while the beautiful pink ones are french raspberry macaroons. The macaroons are to die for...you won't understand until you've had some for yourself. Seriously.

Its interesting that Oliver's shirt stayed nice and clean throughout the process. We drove around the neighborhood for a while afterwards, then went to dinner at our favorite Korean restaurant. Oliver was surprisingly well behaved through both events. He ate at both places without much fuss.

I've been going through a drowsy and nauseous period of the first trimester. I spend most of my "free time" asleep and nauseous. Meanwhile Crazy is dealing with everyone with a pulse in the house. But it just seems as though I can't move the haze that's around me. I'm just really exhausted and when I'm not asleep, I'm battling heart burn or acid reflux. Everything I'm reading tells me that I have just one more week to deal before this phase moves on.

Oliver has been really difficult to pick up at night when we go to daycare. He turns around and runs when he sees us, and when we go grab him, he cries all the way home. :-( We were bribing him with food when we showed up, but always got those "judging" eyes and decided that he just needed to come with us regardless if we had food or not. I think he's so spoiled that he expects us to have something for him when we show up. He is just really hungry when it is time to get home and he wants his dinner immediately. But its always an ordeal when we go pick him up from daycare. He's growing his 2nd molars currently and shoves his hand in his mouth every chance he gets. Its slimy and rather disgusting.

He's been a pain to put down lately. Today was a funny one. Let me give you the scenario. It was noon and his nap time. He was obviously tired since he got up this morning at 7 am. When I put him down I went to take a shower, when I got out, he was still crying. I stood next to his crib looking at him and gently reminding him he needed to take a nap. He sat back on his little legs and looked up at me defiantly with tears in his eyes saying "NO", but his little eyes couldn't stay open for long. He was slowly beginning to nod off but fighting it with all he was worth. He would then go down on his stomach like a little frog, then remember that he didn't want to nap, and would once again go back up to sitting on his legs. After 5 minutes of me being in the room with him, he was tired enough and fell asleep. He slept for 3 hours...and I was asleep while Crazy went to the office to finish up some work. I was so exhausted I didn't even hear him come home. But I barely woke up enough when Oliver woke up and came up to me to say "mammie!" and I asked for a kiss, and he he happily obliged me.
